This marine haven, often referred to as the "Aquarium of the World," offers a unique opportunity to encounter and interact with a diverse array of marine life rivaling that of the Galapagos islands!

Every year, tens of thousands of mobula rays visit the coastlines of the Sea of Cortez, creating one of the most incredible natural spectacles on our planet. While out on the ocean, we’ll also be looking for sea lions, spine tail devil rays, oceanic mantas, pods of dolphins, and many more incredible inhabitants that call these waters home. Each trip will have an expert guide working to teach you about this breathtaking area in the beautiful Sea of Cortez while ensuring everyone’s safety and enjoyment.

Whether you're a seasoned diver or a first-time snorkeler, our eco-conscious approach ensures a safe and awe-inspiring journey into the heart of one of the world's most biodiverse marine environments. What you can see?

 

Whale Season (December to April):

  • Humpback Whales: Known for their acrobatic displays.
  • Grey Whales: Often seen with their calves.
  • Blue Whales: The largest animals on the planet.
  • Sperm Whales: Occasionally spotted in these waters.

Spring (May to June):

  • Mobula Rays: Witness the world’s largest mobula ray migration as thousands of these rays gather in the Sea of Cortez, creating a spectacular natural event. 

Summer Months (July to December):

  • Best Visibility: Warm waters and excellent visibility make these months perfect for diving and snorkeling.
  • Giant Oceanic Mantas: Graceful and large, often seen gliding through the water.

Year-Round Sightings:

  • Sea Lions: Playful and curious, often found lounging on rocky outcrops.
  • Dolphins: Commonly spotted, including the common bottle nose dolphin, spinner dolphins and spotted dolphins.
  • Sea Turtles: Frequently encountered around coral reefs and sandy bottoms.
  • Tropical Fish: Vibrant and diverse species thrive in the warm waters.
  • Mobula Rays: Present year-round, with massive schools aggregating from May through June.
  • Orcas: Estimated to be in our general area for 10 – 12 days every month with increased activity in June & July

Sample Itinerary:

Start Time: Meet in La Ventana at 8 AM. (earlier or later upon request)

Duration: Approximately 6 hours, returning around 2 PM

Route: Navigate the channel between La Ventana and Cerralvo Island, exploring the rich marine ecosystems along the way. Your guide will provide insights into the diverse marine life and ensure a safe and informative experience.

Additional Activities: If no large animals are spotted, we can snorkel around the island's coral reefs, where sea turtles and various tropical fish are often seen.

Requirements:

ü      Snorkeling Experience: Participants should be comfortable and experienced with snorkeling. Familiarity with basic snorkeling skills is necessary to ensure safety and enjoyment during the tour.
