Healing the Deep: How Soul Retrievals Helped Me

Healing the Deep: How Soul Retrievals Helped Me

Angela Zancanaro

As a scuba diver, I’ve faced my share of trauma in and out of the water. I have suffered from depression and anxiety in varies levels at different points of my life. I think we have all experienced trauma in our lives, stuff happens and it doesn’t matter how big or small the instance for some its different depending on your personal perspective. Something as small as being yelled at as a child to a serious car wreck or being mugged, whatever it is it leaves a mark on us. Early in my career I witnessed a man tragically pass away from a heart attack while snorkeling.

After many years of traditional talk therapy I discovered something that felt like magic— Soul retrievals. Soul retrievals have been one of the most powerful, fast, and cost-free forms of healing I’ve experienced. It’s helped me overcome these emotional wounds, become happier, healthier, have less anxiety, and completely remove my depression. So give it a try because it may help you in unexpected ways!

What is Soul Retrieval?

To put it simply, a soul retrieval is about healing fragmented parts of your soul that may have been lost or “stuck” due to traumatic events. We often think of trauma as something big—like a car accident or witnessing a tragedy in the water—but it can also be caused by emotional experiences like abandonment, loss, or even something as common as a breakup. When trauma occurs, a part of your soul can detach and stay stuck in that moment, leaving you feeling incomplete or burdened with pain and anxiety, sometimes without even knowing why.

How Does It Work?

Unlike what you might expect, soul retrieval isn’t about someone else doing the work for you. It’s deeply personal and incredibly effective when you actively participate. The process involves going back to the point in time where the trauma occurred, reconnecting with that fractured part of yourself, and inviting it back into the present moment.

It’s like reaching out to your younger self—the part of you that experienced the trauma. It’s like inner child work in that way with one big exception-- You guide that part back, breathe it into your heart, and healing begins almost instantly. You’ll feel the shift emotionally, and sometimes even can physically come back. I know this kind of sounds crazy but what have you got to loose the worst that can happen is nothing and the best that can happen is healing, so just keep reading and give it a shot.

My Experience with Soul Retrieval

When I first started exploring soul retrieval, I was struggling with abandonment issues stemming from a bad breakup. As I dug deeper, I realized the roots of those feelings went back to earlier experiences in my childhood. I decided to focus on my earliest memory of abandonment and followed the emotional thread back to the earliest moment and bring that part of me back. By the end, what I had been crying over suddenly felt silly and irrelevant. It was as if a weight I’d carried for years had been lifted and my emotional trigger is much weaker that it used to be.

Later, when I witnessed that man tragically die during a snorkeling tour, the process became much more complex. This event wasn’t tied to a single feeling but to many—grief, helplessness, guilt, and the overwhelming sense that I hadn’t done enough or said enough. Healing from this required multiple soul retrievals, each focused on a different aspect of the event. Piece by piece, I worked through the layers of emotions, bringing back fragments of my soul that had been fractured by the experience. Through these soul retrievals, I not only found relief but also reclaimed parts of myself that had been trapped in those painful moments

How Can You Do It?

The beauty of soul retrieval is that ANYONE can do it. You don’t need a therapist, hypnotist or a spiritual healer—you are capable of healing yourself. If you’re dealing with pain, triggers, or emotional blocks, this guide is for you. I invite you to try it it’s FREE and the only thing you have to lose is 5 mins of your time. Check out the guided meditation at the bottom of this article or here's how you do it:

    1. Find a Quiet Space: Take a few deep breaths and settle into a calm, meditative state.
    2. Identify the Trauma: Think back to a time when you experienced something shocking or painful. It could be anything from a traumatic dive, a personal loss, or even a stressful event from your childhood try to go back to the earliest trauma asking yourself is there an earlier time I felt this way.
    3. Talk to Your Younger Self: Imagine reaching out to your younger self, or the part of you that experienced the trauma. Let them know you are there to help. Tell your younger you you are safe I will protect you and you are going to protect me. There’s no need to stay there scared, shocked or however you felt in that moment together we will be stronger than ever.
    4. Invite Them Back: Breathe deeply and visualize the younger you coming forward to the present moment, wrapping that part of your soul in love, inviting them to come back to the present day and become whole.
    5. Feel the Shift: You’ll know when it’s worked because you’ll feel a change, sometimes even a physical response in your heart or you may see a light while you meditate.

Afterward, give yourself time to integrate your soul coming back, you may have emotions that may surface. It’s common to feel waves of emotions like sadness, anger, or irritation, but that’s all part of the healing process. It's your body catching up with you for what happened that you have suppressed. Once those parts are integrated depending on the severity of the event it could take an hour or a few days, you will start to feel better, less triggered, less anxious.

Why Soul Retrieval Matters

Soul retrieval is not just about healing physical or emotional pain—it’s about becoming whole again. By reclaiming the parts of your soul that were left behind, you open yourself up to more joy, clarity, and peace in the present moment.

If you’ve experienced anxiety, emotional triggers, or lingering pain from past trauma, I encourage you to try a soul retrieval. It’s an empowering and miraculous form of healing that anyone can do, and it doesn’t cost anything except your time and attention.
